La terre, le sel, les os, la malachite ou le pétrole sont autant de matériaux au service des artistes de Sub Terra. Ils invitent le spectateur à lire notre civilisation sous forme de stratigraphie. Des entrailles de la terre jusqu’à son épiderme, les artistes illustrent ici notre relation conflictuelle avec le monde souterrain. L’être humain mine, fore, extrait sans complexe, souvent en rapport de force avec ses semblables ainsi qu’avec la matière elle-même, comme si elle était inépuisable. Les mises à jour des engrenages du profit, et leurs aberrations, nous posent ici des questions politiques, sociales et écologiques. Creuser c’est également voyager dans un futur antérieur: de l’archéologie aux rites funéraires, religieux ou profanes, c’est sous la surface que nous déterrons notre histoire, et cherchons un lieu de repos éternel. D’une œuvre à l’autre, l’exposition Sub Terra entraîne le spectateur dans un voyage, un aller et retour permanent entre notre passé, notre présent et notre avenir incertain.

Earth, salt, bones, malachite or oil are all materials
to the artists of Sub Terra. They invite the spectator to read our civilization through the form of stratigraphy. From the bowels of the earth to its epidermis, the artists illustrate here our conflictual relationship with the underground world. The human being mine, drill, extract without complex, often in relation of strength with his fellow men and with the material itself, as if it were inexhaustible. The updates of the profits gear and their aberrations, raise questions for us here policies, social and ecological. Digging also means traveling in a previous future: from archaeology to funeral rites, religious or profane, it is under the surface that we unearth our history, and seek a place of eternal rest. From one work to another, the exhibition SubTerra takes the viewer on a journey, a permanent return between our past, our present and our uncertain future.
